I ordered this about 10 weeks ago. I have to say G&L make some increadible instruments with just amazing tone. I think one of the most underated underpriced basses today. Lefty friendly too...This is my second G7L L2500 fretless I sold the first one like a moron so I had to get another. If you stare at the picture long enough you will hear it...MMmmWWaaaaahhhhh :D

I hear that mwah now...oh wait that's just the Carvin.

Foreal though, sweet looking bass. I love the grain of that body. It's swamp ash?

OK so if you order a normal finish you get Alder for the body wood. If you order any US premier finishes which maybe they do have an up charge but my guy at the store I use for 99% of my purchases of new stuff (Definitely not Guitar Center or Musician's friend) he gives me an awesome deal so I don't think he charged me but you get swamp ash because they know you can see the grain through those finishes.

So I ordered blackburst with matching headstock and I automatically get the swamp ash body...Sick looking I think. I could take some better picks later. Matching headstock was I think $150 I think it's worth it... :)

Does this have the solid black back?
On the website of the former distributor here in the Netherlands, in the description it used to say the premier finishes were a swamp ash top over a basswood body, unlike the G&L website that mentions solid swamp ash. Pretty strange, I've always wondered where they got that (mis)information :|

I'll take some more pictures when I have a tic. Looks like swamp ass to me! :D I did pull her out of the case to check visually and the grain looks just as figured and has the same look to it as the front so I'm thinking 99% it is.

KILLER...

Man, I LOVE the fact that they use a "warm" or "brown based" black to do their black burst, rather than the typical "cool" or "blue based" black bursts you see.

Cool blacks can come out looking purple if you're not careful... but, man... that finish looks frikkin' NICE.

I totally agree! There are a lot of blackburst finishes I don't like, but this one is stunning :)
