Just picked this up off ebay last night. 1997 American Lefty in candle apple red. I'm either looking at a Mint green guard or a Parchment guard to give it that vintage feel. Can anyone give some examples of aftermarket lefty guards? And where they got them from...

I'd like something like this but I'm having a hard time deciphering the color...

Pickguardheaven - I have two made by them for my 57' P-Bass - very good job and not too expensive.

What color did you get? Can you post some pics?

click on the thread below and you'll see the picture of the exact same bass (mine) with the Mint Green pickguard I ordered for $30 from Warmoth (I spent a lot of time on-line finding the best deal and it was the best place - no extra charge for lefties - same quality as they all use the same material anyway)

Be careful, I initially ordered a Parchemin guard, but it almost looked the same as the original white pickguard, you could barely see the difference. Cream can look awesome as well. The one on the picture of your vintage bas is Mint Green but it has aged too. A brand new Mint will look like my bass.

Both pickguards I ordered (from two different companies) had requested a slight adjustment at the neck heel. I had to slightly sand to make them fit. To avoid this problem, send a PDF file of your old pickguard.

Stay away from attempting any kind of "relic" job on a Poly finish. Every knowledgeable person on this forum will confirm that it can only look like s... The vintage bass you show in your picture has a Nitro finish - It does not age the same at all.

FYI: On my bass I replaced the pickups by the Fender Original 62' and in my opinion, it is night and day

Check on ebay. I found a canadian company in Alberta that make all kind of stuff. I 've bought a pearl gray tortoise for a black Pbass and it looks awesome.
