So, what is the lowest-cost Lefty Fender Precision Bass currently available new?

Not Squier.
Not used.
Not some other brand entirely.

I was asking the same question for awhile but the answer is kinda steep: American STD Precision: $1,249

I was afraid of that. I've paid less for new lefty Rickenbackers!

Ok, can you tell me, where to get one of those new left Rickenbackers for less than $1249, please.

Nope, I've never paid more than $1000 for a lefty Ric bass.

Absolutely.
But I was asked:

And responded:

Which is still the case.
Good luck!

I think you can get a japanese 7ender shipped from stores like ishibashi, for less than an American Standard.

Here in Spain, a new American Standard is 1200€ and an MIJ from Taniguchi or Ishibashi goes to 900€ with shipping and duties.

it's so depressing - there're even no American Deluxe leftys anymore... I was asking for a lefty 5 Str. of a Am. Deluxe... I was told by my Custom Shop dealer - 5500,- Euros

After that I bought Stryker's old CIJ 5 Str. here and I can't be happier - great B String and together with my Sadowsky Preamp/DI pedal this Bass gets really dangerous 8-) :)

On Topic :

the Am. Standart P-Bass from 2010 is around 1200-1300 Euros here in germany :) - I have a friend who owns some CIJ P Basses and he has never paied more than around 700,- Euros (I guess they all came from the Ishibashi U Box)

If you get a good CIJ - they sound better than a lot US models...

I generally prefer the neck feel on the CIJ models to the current American standard series. I found my US standard jazz neck felt much too stiff for my liking, where my CIJ jazz neck was a little more "vintage" in feel, it seemed to have a little more give to it and felt more natural to play.

So far, any American standard p-bass I've tried out in a store has been a dog, I don't know if that's bad luck, poor setups, or shop neglect (I'm leaning towards neglect).
Another option is to pick up a new Squier classic vibe series and just flip it over. I picked up a CV in fiesta red for around $300 Canadian, it sounds great, has tons of punch, and still balances pretty well upside down.

But if you're absolutely set on something purely Fender, then CIJ all the way. More colour options floating around out there for sure, just have to be a little patient.

Those of us that live in the USA can no longer purchase directly from Ishibashi and other Japanese companies due to Fender USA putting restrictions on them. Fender USA makes very few lefties and at the same time, punishes companies that do.

You purchase via Japanese resellers, but at a huge markup.

but you still can order out of the Ishibashi UBox , right ???

because this are used basses in there....

we here in Europe do have that problem too with not being allowed to buy directly from Fender Japan / Ishibashi... but the UBox is open for us

SHAME on Fender USA :x  :!:

:)

I've owned about 6 Fender P's and my 3 favorites - by a long shot - are all FrankenP's made with 70's bodies - two with 90's necks and one with a 70's fretless. None were more than $800 to make.

What was your question?

Good point. I would assume so but you never know what Fender USA.

The best guitar I ever played was a MIJ Fender '50s reissue Strat. Even unplugged, the guitar had a great sound. It was stolen when my apartment was burglarized, the only guitar the thief took. Since then I purchased a "better" MIA Strat, but it just does not sound as good.

Right now my main guitar is a MIJ Tokai Tele.
