I guess it is a SR300 since the SR200 does not come with the 4knobs/pre. I bought this for less than 100, and just curious if anyone here used that PHATII pre and what they thought of it?

if the pre is junk, like some people say on TB, it will be swapped out on day 1 cause I do have some spare jackson preamps in the parts bin.

Looks like my GSR200, I love mine, and use The Phat at about a 1/4turn, to add a bit more low-end.

thanks Austin, I'm hopefully gonna get it this week and see how she sounds OEM out of my rig...you never know, the phat may work perfectly for me as it does for you.

that thing may be my #1 bass shortly and the Charvel's can get a little rest. I'm not a brand-name hound, and anything is fairgame to jam on if it plays and sounds the way I like it.

FYI, the original GSR200s only had the 3-knob control layout, but for a few years now have had 4. I like the neck on mine, and as I said, I only use a small amount of Phat as it's a pretty powerful boost.

GSR300? Not a chance. It's a GSR200FMTKSL. FM = Flame Maple, TKS = Transparent Black Sunburst, L = Left Handed.

GSR200FMTKSL?

oh GOD another HUGE model number like Jacksons...lol
well gsr200 or gsr300, if the neck and frets are good OEM or pup/pre swapped, I'll keep it.

if not then I'll toss it on CL for 50 bucks as junk and call it a day.

dude, that a heck of a lot more logical and simpler to figure out than any Takamine model number.

Those Ibanezes usually have the model number on the back of the headstock.

i'm not complaining but the cheapskate seller sent it USPS parcelpost cause i told him i wouldn't pay more than 120 total and he agreed but only sending thru parcelpost so it will be a while before I even get it. once I do, I'll post on it to you all to tell you how it feels and sounds compared to my Charvels....

You limited him to $20 shipping and he's the cheapskate?

oh god, now I'm gonna get harassed.........
as far as the cheapness.... Isn't everybody trying to get more for less? That's why I stay away from the "name" brands, nothing I do anymore musically warrants something that would cost me a lot.

He wanted me to buy it for 150 and I said no. I told him in the beginning I would not pay more than 100 TOTAL, because I really don't need it with all the units I have over here but he really wanted to sell it and said he needed to sell it "today", so I compromised and it came to 120 and change.

I'm not bummed out, so I'll wait.

and then what happens? As I paid him, I saw a p/JJ series10 unit on ebay because it is a bass version of the guitar I have and won that thing so now I have 2 leftys coming for around 200 total.....
at this point in my life, I have a lot of fun, play in a party-cover band, make some tax free cash, and don't need a bunch of expensive basses anymore, so the cheaper the better as long as I can use them.

You bought that Series 10? I take it back; you're not a cheapskate; you're a philanthropist!

ya that was me :):) I didn't buy it to flip it, I bought it for the novelty of having a pair. I'm planning on putting zero dollars into it since I have a lot of parts if necessary :)
the guitar counterpart is nice, not a Kramer/Ibanez/Jackson neck and if I was a guitarplayer no way would I use it daily, but I never had it fail yet for the little amount of stuff I use guitar for....:)
the pic was before I flipped the strings around because I play inverted....

I actually had a total of 4 series10's in the house at one time years ago and liked the older headstock before they changed it to the "beak"in 89 for the last couple years before Bently bit the dust....

any of you bassplayers/guitarplayers need a SD Invader? It's still sitting in a righty series10 SSH.

oh and p.s. I'm also the one who bought this POS off ebay for 50 bucks despite all the TB'ers saying it was junk firewood...it WAS but for 50 bucks I didn't care!!!! that neck took a week of steaming in clamps in my bathroom to straighten it out, but some spare jackson parts parts later, it's a nice player with low action.

I never saw a OEM bridge so cheap that the back side flexed from string bending..sounded like a kahler and a p-pickup with 3.75k ohms in it
