It's like the USATK with the tension-free neck that was made by Bunker Guitars, but other than the bodyshape and the headstock shape this bass has very little to do with an ATK. No big ATK-style bridge, no triplecoil pickup. Very odd.

If this ever was a real lefty ATK, it must be a PGB-1. It's the only lefty ATK that originally comes in that colour and doesn't have a pickguard. I can imagine someone would want to replace the neck of a PGB, the Slipknot inlays are ugly as hell. But all the other 'upgrades' don't make sense. Why buy an ATK in the first place if you're building an entirely different bass out of it?

Was confusing it with something else I just saw.
But I still do think it was originally a PGB-1, given that body colour and the lack of pickguard screwholes.

Makes sense what you're saying Jeroen. I went to the Treker website, and their wasn't much in the way of info, so no idea when the bass was made. You're right that it is in the style of an ATK, but that's where the similarity ends. From the reviews I read on Harmony Central, people either loved or hated Treker guitars and basses, with more seeming to err toward the hate side. Seems like a great idea, but poorly executed.

That color was an option for the USATK, and a PGB-1 body would have a notch for the trussrod wheel. Not to mention a separate battery cover. And speaking of trussrods, why is there that cover on the headstock? There's no adustment there on a Bunker neck!

So these may really be leftover USATK parts (or newly made USATK parts)?

Well, it says the body was originally made for Ibanez and the color is an original Ibanez color. They go on to say David Bunker made the neck for them, and Bunker made the original USATK bodies, so it seems way more likely he had leftover bodies than it does that Trekker managed to buy PGB-1 bodies.

From what I've read and observed from the photos on the Treker website, the neck is an independent piece, and the headstock is added on after the neck is completed. The cover may be to hide the screw/bolt that holds the headstock to the neck. Strange setup regardless....
