This might bring up the value of the older Wal basses due to construction time. Whats the turnaround of a new Wal?

Or it might bring down the value depending on how you look at it. I knew they were gonna open up again it was just when......

Congrats to Paul for taking on the Wal tradition and bringing back the Wal into production. They really are great basses.

Agreed, but when you consider the price of other boutique companies, they're right in line I think. Not that I'm bashing some other companies, but I'll take a Wal any day over any other boutique bass in this price range.

I agree. Never played a Wal, but as a boutique thing, they aren't as prissy as a lot of other "boutique" basses (quilty woods and so forth). I'd love to check one out.

Well said. Wal has always been able to be a boutique instrument without the stigma often attached to a boutique instrument.

FYI to all - The Electronics (Filter Based) are the BEST thing about a Wal Bass. There is a LOT of tonal variation with these basses and lots or frequency adjustments to be had. I agree they are not as boutique as some others and might not be your thing, but they are very nice instruments.

$5100 US Street or RTL? If $5100, all I can say is WOW!!!

Agreed about the preamp. Unlike anything else I've used or heard on a bass... completely unique.

D.I. is pretty impressive too. Although I never used mine, people that have swear by it over any outboard.

All this talk about Wal got me playing mine today. I experimented with the DI, which I never really bothered with before. You can do some very cool things, as you can send a signal to both DI and 1/4" outs simultaneously. Thus, you could treat one or the other (or both) signals with entirely different processing/effects for a "Wal" of sound, if you will.
