I really want a bass VI, especially one with the high and low pass filters that the fender/squiers have. Right now I'm thinking my best option is to get a Squier Bass VI and play it upside, and just restring lefty flipping the nut. If anyone has any better ideas I would greatly appreciate it.

Here's a thread from last December about possibly converting a regular guitar or a shortscale 4-string to a Bass VI. It also lists some options for readily available Bass VI-style guitars. Maybe this helps! :)

Edit: might as well post the actual link

Out of the list on the previous thread only the Danelectro is readily available and it unfortunately doesn't have the tone I'm seeking or the features of the fender/squier.

I wish Squier would cut the crap and just offer a lefty Bass VI already.

You can build one at Warmoth.

Yeah, and there are so many options to choose from, but if you want a pickguard on it, you will have to drill the holes yourself. I asked Warmoth about this, and they said it is part of their agreement with Fender as a "replacement parts vendor".

I only bring this up so that others are aware, because I do not trust myself to drill a dozen holes into an expensive guitar body.

I never really "got" what a Rick is capable of until I ran it stereo a few times in my college band. We used to call it the "Piano of Doom". You get all the bottom and all the top in total a**kicking mode.
