Ha ha ha, that's okay.
I played her for an hour last night and another hour this morning before work. Hoh boy she plays like butter and cuts like a knife. LOVE the ebony fretboard--I'd never played one before. Every other spec is exactly like by SB-2, and I even got a matching strap, so everything lines up the way I'm used to.
First thing I did was cut the stock strings off--never even plugged it in first. I threw some TI flats on there and they sound great, but definitely need to break in. If they don't mellow out enough, I may swap for Chromes.
I think I'm going to try to figure out how to add a removable thumb rest in line with the top edge of the pickup. Resting my thumb on the corner of the pickup get a nice barky tone that's great for some things but too immodest for others. I can do the floating thumb thing, and the tone softens up beautifully just a half an inch closer to the neck, but playing that way is not my favorite.
Going through the Custom Shop did not go as expected. Again, anyone considering it in the next year or two should reach out to me offline--I'm not necessarily warning people off, but this has been a very different experience from ordering my SB-2 a couple years ago and you should have your expectations calibrated accordingly. But finally having the guitar in hand gave me that great feeling of an instant 2% improvement in my playing that makes getting a new instrument so thrilling. And it looks incredible too, even if a little sparse in figuring.
I will try to get more pictures including a family portrait up in the next couple of days...
