I put this bass together out of parts from a bass I picked up from a board member here - thanks Alex - and some stuff I had lying around. The band I primarily play in usually tours with 3 guitar players and there are lots of guitar harmonies. But on our most recent tour, we were one guitar player down. I thought maybe this would fill in the blanks on some of the songs where the two guitarists were harmonizing and there was no rhythm guitar. Well.... IT WORKED! It fit perfectly on about a half dozen songs that we had in the list. I usually played it on about 3 or 4 songs per night depending on the set list. With just a hint of overdrive, it sounds like Jon Lord's organ. Ha. I'm a finger only player so my finger tips and finger nails were a little worse for wear at the end of the tour but the callouses are hard as diamonds now. And let me tell ya, I've never had to talk about gear so much as I did playing this thing. After every show I was inundated with broken English conversations about how cool it was. (Unfortunately..... those were mostly dudes. Haha...) Anyway, lots of fun to play and I'm really glad it worked out so well. I'm definitely going to try to find more places to implement this beast.

Eight strings are fun to play and sound great.
Twelve strings sound even more colossal but are less fun to play, they are hard on the hands and somehow require a lot more power in the fretting hand than a eight even though it's only one string per note more. With my eight everything feels fairly normal, with my twelve it feels like a workout.

Love the Greasy Groove Pickguard, always wanted one but never got one. Looks killer on this bass.

Outstanding! would love to hear a sound clip or two if you have some laying about.
How stable is that neck? Is it a dual-trussrod?

I've always wanted to try a 12 string, but now I'm wondering... I wish us lefties could try an 8 and a 12 side by side!! Although I bet that's a challenge even for righties! :-)
