That is not a Hellcat VI, at least I don't think it is. The scale length is too short.

Well, it does look like it has plain strings for the G, B and E instead of wound strings, so the gauge on it is by no means a set of Bass VI-strings. But I can't really tell the scale lenght from these pics. I may be wrong though.

Edit: Oh, you're right. It's the regular 25,5" model. The bridge placement gives it away, and the neck is definitely not as long as this:

Yes, I assumed it wasn't a Hellcat VI based on the bridge placement. I was confused at first since I thought the 25.5" scale version had a vibrato.

I already have alerts setup for Ebay for when a lefty Hellcat comes up. I was so excited to get the alert, only to be disappointed to find out it wasn't a VI.

A local store uses a lefty 25.5" Hellcat as a window prop. :?

I went to two different shows in which a band played a Bass VI. I really want one! I have yet to see a Hellcat on Ebay.

I am finally get back into music after a year long hiatus. Been finding myself playing guitar more often, so a hybrid instrument would be perfect. I always played bass like a guitarist (Peter Hook) and guitar like a bassist.

Very cool! How does it sound?

Also, for those interested in DIY, Warmoth now has Bass6 parts. It is the Fender style with a slight difference to the headstock.

Very cool indeed.

So basically you added two tuners, new nut and new bridge?

How do the pickups compare to Bass VI pickups? Any possibility for after market pickups of that size? I am assuming the neck radius is pretty flat and not great for chording, but then again, you don't play chords with a Bass VI. More triads I guess.

There currently is a lefty Hamer Slammer bass on Ebay right now. I need to make some room first.

Was updating my profile (image, email address, ...) when I started exploring my old threads. I missed your response.

How is the Hellcat? They were selling them on Ebay for a while, but I assumed it was a mistake since the Schecter website still did not list a lefty version. ProSound said they would order from Schecter and have them ship directly to me. Now it looks like the Hellcat VI is available again as a lefty. Hopefully I will order one in 2012 once I move.

I saw that yesterday after reading this thread. There's some test on Youtube of both instruments, but they're always plugged in to guitar amps...

Looking at the specs between the Ultra and the Hellcat.

Hellcat has a bolt-on maple neck and alder body.
Ultra has a mahogany set neck and mahogany body.

I love the look of the Ultra, but would prefer the punchier sound of the Hellcat (on paper, not sure how either sounds yet).

If anyone's interested, apparently a large German webshop is selling new Schecter Hellcat VI's.
http://www.thomann.de/nl/schecter_hellc ... tsb_lh.htm

It's expensive (especially if you're in the USA) but it's cool!
