Hello fellow south paws,

This is my first post in the site; I'm very excited!
But I'm in dire need of some advice. Ive been playing a l2000 for the last 4 years and I'm ready for a five.
As you brothers know, we have little options. I've been researching for weeks and I'm getting annoyed.

I'm really hoping you guys can give me some suggestions! Tone wise my 2 favorites are Dan Briggs from between the buried and me and Liam Wilson from the Dillinger escape plan.

I'm not picky bass wise, but for the record I'm not a fan of ibanez and my budget caps at 1500.

Thanks a lot guys, much love.

Find a used Stingray 5. Those can be had for under $1500, no problem. Search ebay, seems like I saw one on there pretty recently. Good luck!

Agreed on the Stingray 5 (no bias here of course  )

Also at the price range you could get into a brand new Carvin SB5000 which gets stellar reviews, and you could get a even better deal on a used one.

L2500's can also be found at and below that range.

Carvin may not be the first, or second bass that comes to mind, but this bass - viewtopic.php?f=4&t=3805 - our fellow forum member Marley's Ghost is offering up looks killer, is being offered at a killer price, and with the MusicMan style pickups, has got to sound killer as well... OK, done over-using killer in this response!

I love Dan Briggs' tone. His Spector really pushes and cuts through their mix. For the budget you mentioned, you should be able to find a used Euro Spector 5-string. They are absolutely killer, and have a lot of fans on this forum.
Can't go wrong with the Stingray 5 either. I love mine!

+1 one on that Jeroen! I've always wanted to own a Spector.... after I've gotten rid of at least 10 of my 15 basses, I'll start looking for one! :D
