Folks, your help would be much appreciated: where one would buy a 62 RI left handed pickguard?
I tried a couple of the usual places, but they don't seem to have the correct template...

thanks!

I lived in Gravesend Brooklyn, for 13 years 1980- 1993. ...worked at Sam Ash as a tech in '79- thru '82.

What bass is it for? Is is a Japan made Jazz bass? What year? I happen to have one, a dark tortoise shell. I'm a luthier, and made one that is more 'red tortoise' for my sunburst bass. I still have the original- circa '97, for a Japanese- Basswood body- '62 RI Jazz Bass. I also have a lefty ALDER bodied parts jazz bass, Japanese made Fender body bought from The Stratosphere on Ebay. The mint green guard I made for that bass is a LOT different in shape to the Fender Japan guard off the other bass. I don't really know why, but it is. To confuse matters even more, my friend's American stack knob righty pickguard is even more different in shape and screw hole location. Phew. Let me know if you're interested in it- a trade, perhaps?

It's for a '94 Japanese 62 reissue Jazz Bass, and yes, I would be interested in t if the pickguard fits. Perhaps you can trace it and send a scan over email?

If that pickguard doesn't work out for some reason, go here:

http://pickguards.us/price_jazzbass.html

Item number 3800

List of materials is here:

Yeah, I saw the 3800 as an option, wasn't sure if it's the correct fit. Best way to check without actually buying it?

Well... the absolute best way to be sure would be to provide them with a trace of your current pickguard and have them match it.

But, I'm 99.7% sure that the 3800 will fit your bass.

I really like the quantitatively-precise estimation supporting your recommendation :)
