I've wanted an acoustic for awhile now and MKs are great basses, and that price is great....except for the crack in the headstock.

The listing says its tested and plays great, but how would that crack effect everything? Would I have to get it filled up, how hard is that to do?

crack? that looks more like the headstock was broken off ... and someone without repair experience did a poor job of attempting to glue it back on  that bass took a pretty good hit to do that much damage to the neck, and I would question what else may have been damaged (but not easily visible) in that event :?

IIRC street price on a bass like this is in the $600-$900 range new. say the fix costs you $200 plus r/t shipping if there isn't a qualified repair shop in your area. at $99 you might break even vs. buying a similar (but unbroken) used bass when you add repair costs to get the headstock break properly fixed, and then you'd always have to disclose this repair and take the hit in resale value.

if someone came to my shop looking to have this repair made I'd pass and recommend they talk with Lull 10 min down the street. I'm pretty sure Mike's repair estimate would leave the owner looking to buy a new replacement and then offing the broken bass on eBay for cheap ... o, wait a minute

just my cranky and not yet coffee'd morning opinion on this

all the best,

R

I've actually had my coffee this morning, and I agree with what you said 100%.

$208.76 for shipping?! We've seen this before.... I've had two acoustic basses shipped to Hawaii in the past two years for $50-$60 through the Post Office. They made it here just fine. Just don't know what justifies this type of shipping cost in the seller's mind.... even at $99, and the cost of shipping, this is only a fair price because of the cracked headstock. Brand new, with a bit of patience and searching, this bass can be found for about $500 or less....

Shipping for me was 40$ o.o

I think Ebay has an auto-quoter which must increase the price because you live in Hawaii

You're probably right about the auto-quoter. That's why I always contact the seller to see if they're willing to work with me on shipping.
