Here is my 'new' L2000:

It came with the original case and the warranty card. It was originally purchased at Alex's Music on 48th St in NYC. It's in really nice shape, and I notice a difference between this and the newer L2K I just sold. Active mode on this sounds sweeter, not as harsh as on the newer 2K or 2.5K I used to own. On the newer ones I always played in passive mode. This one active is good too. Active with the pickups is series is pretty monstrous. No single coil mode on this one though; just series and parallel, but it has lots of useful tones. It has the newer style headstock. Sounds great.

I think I remember that bass! Did you buy it recently or over 6 years ago? There was a very similar lefty white L2000 in either Manny or Sam Ash on 48th at least 6 years ago I spotted when I worked a block away from 48th st.

Yes bought it from NJ Guitar and Bass. It was bought new from Alex's music on 48th in the 80s - I have the original warrantee card.
Also I noticed on the bass there is a reddish hue showing on the arm carve - you can barely see it in the pic. I believe the wood is showing through, which means it's mahogany. It has a couple of small chips that show a reddish wood underneath. It is on the heavy side, about 10lbs.
