Nice pair of basses, and welcome to the board. :)

Does your L-1000 have a mahogany body?

Thanks Andrew. Yes it's mahogany. Here's a body shot:

You can see a little reddish figuring in the ebony fretboard in this pic. Apparantly they did not stain the ebony in the early days of G&L.

Have you acquired these recently? I remember two identical basses offered for sale on this forum. Very pretty!

Yes Jeroen, I got both w/in the last few months, before I knew about this forum. One (the SB2) was on TB; the 1K I got off e bay. They are both real good players! The SB2 has a real bright punchy tone, and the 1K thumps! G&Ls are a good value used imo, and there are quite a few lefties around. Not as many to be found in Europe though I think, which is too bad, because they are like Fenders on steriods, for less $.

Indeed, G&L's are great basses. I used to own a 1990's SB-2 (identical to the current model, with the PJ-configuration) and loved it, but didn't play it often enough to justify keeping it. I sold it on leftybass.com.

Carmine has inspired me; nowhere near his league, but here are two more G&L lefties
'08 L2500

lotta different tones out of this bad boy, active, passive, series, all kinds of modes
'09 JB2

the build quality of this bass is great, original pups so-so, swapped 'em for Nordstrand nj4s, really nice vintage sound

I've always liked them but have never owned one. You have a good collection going there, I love the green JB-2 8-)

I have been meaning to take pictures of my G&L LB-100 since I plan on selling it. Every weekend has been cloudy, so I can't get any good natural light. Soon!
