This thread is dedicated to recent wood purchases of unusual quality and/or figuring. I'll do my best to keep the Maple content to an absolute minimum Amboyna burl Claro Walnut [I have three of these that were cut in series. each piece could be one nicely thick bookmatched top, or be cut thinner to make two 1/8" thick tops (or a nicely matching back and top set)] Acrylized Birdseye Maple fingerboard blanks (all five are sized for a 5-string fretless) all the best, R |

this Koa top will be used on one of the first coupe M-Series 5-strings (that's not my body outline traced on the wood, but you get the idea of how the bass will come out) tossing between Swamp Ash and Mahogany for the body core on this one, and I'm 95% certain I'll be using a Birdseye neck shaft with Pau Ferro fretboard. if I opt for a Mahogany neck shaft I'm going to upgrade the headstock with a similarly colored/figured Koa veneer and this top, together with a Mahogany body and black accent veneer, will be used on the first M-Series 4-string fretless (remember that acrylized spalted Birdseye fingerboard with a Mahogany neck shaft? ) all the best, R |

a pair of flatsawn flame Maple neck blanks I scored this week. the larger one is easily wide enough for a 6-string bass, the smaller one will just fit my 5-string headstock front side back side I'm thinking these would look good with a black painted headstock ( ... kidding ... just kidding! ) all the best, R |

man that looks like an excellent piece of wood to work with! I'd love to see that as a fretboard on a black body/black pickguard Fender P No matching headstock though! ...yes I have fallen for Roger Waters' P bass if you need to know |

N - all black with flames ... very nice Since these two blanks are recent acquisitions, I don't anticipate them being utilized for a build until sometime late this year or later AZW - I'm not familiar with this wood supplier. I have utilized another supplier from the Islands (Notable Woods) and been very pleased with the value I received on my purchases all the best, R |
