Hi guys,

Had my ending concert of the school year of the Amsterdam Jazz school (Djam) I'm enrolled in. It's my third year there (also my third in total) and totally like it. It's great. Really, it is. Lots of friends ;)

I'm posting it, so you can hear me playing my green Sadowsky PJ with 1 year old TI Flats, through a Jule Monique, the Ampeg BR-200 cabinet and the PA system. The soundguy is my best friend here, boosting me during solo's, haha!

Thanks man :)

Update: unfortunately the three video's in the first post were taken down (by the singer).

To make this thread worthwile, here is the complete student presentation day: with my playing starting from here:

If you care to scroll to other perfoming combo's on that day, you'll find some bass playing in comparison. The Jule Monique 700 is great for players, you actually feel your notes, instead of only hearing them (when that is the case).

Great stuff, I even looked at some the performances earlier in the video that you are in.

The bass sounds great and that color is perfect.

Thanks Bob!

There are indeed more songs that I play on, for instance, Song For My Father: https://youtu.be/SeGWsXJfF5w?t=8347

The Jule Amp did make quite the combo with the Sadowsky PJ. My other amps (Ampeg BR-200 for one) did not make the tones as tangible as this one.

What also came up while playing this bass for 4 years, is that it's one of the easiest basses to use live, quickly changing tones from song to song, or to adapt to the resonance of some venues. The cancellation-effect (modern sounding) with both pickups on full, is quite handy, more so than you might guess when auditioning a PJ in a store of somewhere isolated from a band.

I've read the other topic about the PJ-config and I can relate. Playing alone at my desk it may sound a little undefined as compared to a hollow P tone (the first one from Scott's comparision video), or gnarly J on the rear. But, in the end (on stage) the sounds I can get by balancing the J, P and the Sadowsky pre-amp for the room/song, are realworld usable and virtually unlimited (okay okay, no barking single coil) :)
