Here's a clip of my band playing Get Ready (Rare Earth version). This was a charity show for the Center for the Disabled in Albany NY - 4 bands played. It was a blast! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdh4-qX5LVs One of my family members shot this - that explains the gratuitous zoom in on me I am playing my '83 G&L L2000. Our lead guitarist plays an '84 G&L S500. |

Man what the hell is wrong with those people?! You guys were totally killin' it, they should have all been doing a sweat-drippin boogaloo! Great job Bhunt, you guys rocked! Your singer has the right voice or Rare Earth tunes you should do some others, "Celebrate" and "Losing You" are a given. |

Hey thanks! Yeah the lack of dancing was disappointing; it got a little better later in the set. Our singer is great for this kind of song - a good singer covers alot of sins |

great playing but please take this as constructive criticism. What is it these days with singing and music stands? It looks unprofessional and kills the mood of preforming live music Its becoming more and more common and i dont understand it. we all used to use cheat sheets but hide them on a foldback or ground now days you can get a tablet and have them bolted to a mic stand. He needs to kick the stand over to engage the crowd |

Hey guys thanks for the comments. AZ - this was shot with a Canon Powershot SX280 HS camera. I really need to invest in a tripod though - this was handheld. bugsy - you are right about those stands, we need to find a way to hide the sheets. I didn't know that was a trend - I thought we were doing it just 'cause we're old. |

Great job. I used to perform this song too years ago. I see more and more people using iPads on stage. I currently use my wife's Nook for lyrics. I also have a mic stand mount for my iPhone, which I've been using at rehearsals for my guitar patches with the Amplitube app. An iPad or iPhone is a little less obvious then a music stand/cheat sheet, since some musicians are also using iPads of late for their sounds, lyrics, notation, etc. and it just looks like part of the overall setup. |

disclaimer.... i use an Ipad with a connection on the mic stand. It doesnt look so intrusive as a sheet music stand. its quite good cause not only use cheats but keep an eye on the time of sets |

Great stuff, love the music, nice video quality and if you look the singer is not really looking at the lyrics, it's more of a safety net. I feel having them on stage is more of a sign of the times, I would spend hours learning tunes, hitting the RR button on the cassette deck, lifting the needle over and over again. Now it's 5 second Google search and youtube video and you have the song. Unfortunately it does not stick in the long term memory and folks rely on these music stands for re-enforcement. I did a reunion gig with the guys from our high school band (round 82), we did one rehearsal 20 songs then gigged at a bar the next night. Everyone knew their parts but mostly because we had them lock down in high school. I do not see that happening with today's bands. I feel easy come easy go. Again great video! |
