OK, in addition to my '76 Jazz, I'm also selling a fretless Fender Precision bass I put together years ago. I'm asking $700 plus shipping for the entire bass and case. Here are the parts (with individual part prices if you want one part):
1977 Fender Precision Bass Fretless Neck ($500)
Unlined Maple Board. The board was refinished in epoxy by a previous owner. I sanded it using up to 400 grit paper and a 9.5” radius sanding block I bought from Stew Mac. I'll include the sanding block. You can wet sand it with finer paper to get that gloss.
The string tree is original. The included tuners, nut, neckplate and screws are replacements. The tuners and neckplate are genuine Fender parts purchased in 2011.
The neck is
super straight, allowing you to get the action really low for that "mwah" sound. I used DR nickel hexcore rounds on it to get it as close to the board as possible. Don't be afraid of rounds on an epoxy board - it handles them easily and you'll get a killer mwah tone.
The finish on the bass side of the neck is a bit worn, but that never affected the feel of the neck while I play it.
1974 Fender Precision Body in Ash ($200)
Bought from Ebay as a 1974 Fender sunburst body, then re-finished by Pat Wilkins in olympic white (when I thought Fender would never offer oly white for us lefties again
). Do I know without a doubt that the body is Fender? No, but before Pat refinished it I sanded it down and it looks Fenderish to me. 4-piece ash with fantastic grain on the bass side. See pics. If I were keeping it I would strip it and would look great unfinished.
Lindy Fralin P Pickup ($100)
Fender Case ($75)
Fender Pickguard (free - I adjusted the neck pocket area and shaved off a bit too much)
Pots and one knob (I dunno, make me an offer)
Pics coming!
