I have an excellent shape ESP Standard bass but in 2008 and supposedly built in Japan plant. I have no way to prove this and going by reputation of this year and model.
This bass is 34” scale and has a VERY comfortable fast neck. The pickups are EMG DC40 at neck and EMG MM switchable at bridge. The combination is GREAT and full. Preamp might be a custom EMG preamp. I am unsure of this. The toggle switch is for the MM bridge pickup (single/dual) with 9v operation.
I had a professional luthier do a fret level on this and the action can get super low now. There are a few minor surface dents but nothing bad. The ash body is a little oversized. This allows a more fuller tone as well and is very comfortable to wear. I put this bass in the 9lbs-ish weight. Gotoh tuners are high quality and turn perfectly as also holds tuning quite well.
Case is a wood hard case from ESP form fitted for this bass and secure for freight anywhere. This case is heavy.
From a source:
SS = ESP Standard Factory Signature Series or Standard Series
Date: first 2 digits 08 = 2008
These are pretty rare to find especially in a left handed model. I have never seen another one in lefty before.
