You might remember this from ebay. I picked it up and it's a great bass but I won't play it as much as my other basses. I'm also a soapbar/humbucker guy and miss those sounds. I could never make PJ's work for me ! It's me I know.
I believe this is an 86 or 87. The Barts and preamp were a mess when I got it. Pickups were beat and the pre was spotty. I replaced them with a passive setup using a Dimarzio Model P and J wired VVTT. New pots, knobs (knobs were missing), pickups are new as well.
The bass also received a buffing and had the frets leveled and polished by Larry at Wooden Wizard Guitars here in VA. He does excellent work. Dunlop Straploks were also installed.
This Pilot has a lot of play and years on it from the previous owner and from its age. It shows in some body scuffs and the binding has shrunk and cracked in some areas but has been repaired. The binding has aged to a really nice yellow. Neck is in great shape and appears to be ebony over maple.
Bass comes with a nice gigbag in good shape.
