Ok, I once said that I would NEVER sell this bass... and, to be honest, the thought of doing that right now is making me a little sick to my stomach. :?

BUT...

You should never say never, I guess... a personal reason, along with a couple of other of life's random occurrences has lead me to make a couple of major changes. So, there you go... my baby is up for sale.

I'm putting it out there as a feeler right now because I might not be ready to ship it for a few weeks and wanted get the ball rolling on the sale early. Also... if something changes suddenly between now and then, I might pull the sale. If someone wants this bass, they would have to be understanding about both of those caveats and not hold either of those things against me.

I have nothing bad to say about this bass... It sets up ridiculously well, sounds phenomenal and is a straight up pleasure to play.

Here are the details:

• Official color is Olympic White... kind of looks arctic white in pics, but has more of the yellowish tint in person.

• Ash body with maple neck and birdseye maple fingerboard

• 18mm spacing, 35" scale

• Weight is exactly 9.68 lbs

• Nordy 2-band preamp

• Controls are Vol, Vol, Passive Tone, Bass/Treble Stack (cut/boost), and active passive switch.

• Comes with BOTH Mike Lull designed Seymour Duncan single coils AND their linear HB's. I found NO sonic difference, so I have the linear HB's installed as they are DEAD quiet and have staggered pole pieces. If you want the full single coil thang, you can install those instead.

• Hipshot Bridge and UltraLight tuners

• You can string the B string through the body, although I found no discernible difference doing it that way.

• Dunlop Dual Design Straplocks

• B/W/B and Tortoise Shell guards are both included... tortoise is installed.

• Neck pickup cover is installed

• Comes with deluxe hardshell G&G case... PIMP!!!

• I have only used nickel strings on this bass and the frets are in fantastic shape.

• There is some "thumbnail wear" where I rest my thumb and some swirling and other wear on the back of the bass from regular gigging and playing. There are also a couple of small paint chips (see pic) and a couple of other VERY minor dings... but, overall, the bass is in great shape, as you can see from the pictures.

Mike Lull has significantly bumped his prices up the last few years... so this bass would be something like $3800 new, with the 15% lefty fee, case, extra pickguard and pickups.

You can take mine for HALF of that.

I agree with all the rest; beautiful bass, and a great price... and kick myself I don't have the available funds! Good luck on your sale, I'm sure it will find a good home...

I'll open this up to international interest as well for members of this board, as long as the buyer assumes ALL RESPONSIBILITY in case of loss or damage and pays ALL shipping/duties/taxes... I would need this stated in writing, via email.

If your country allows for insurance as high as $2000 when shipping a full-sized guitar case, even better.

I will only accept PayPal payments when shipping to a confirmed address and will only accept a "PayPal gift" payment to a non-confirmed address... otherwise, I'll gladly accept bank transfer.

Sorry about the rigid specifics here, but... PayPal does NOT protect sellers AT ALL if something is lost or damaged internationally, and I simply cannot take the chance of losing everything on this deal.

I have had a few positive experiences shipping internationally, which is why I'll do this for a board member... but I need to protect myself.

Thanks!

But if you take an insurance and the package gets lost or damaged, you'll be refunded right? So I assume you'll refund the buyer in that case?
I understand you want to protect yourself in case there's a problem, but I personnally won't buy a $2k+ item without any form of buyer protection.

If there is enough insurance on the package to cover the full loss, I will certainly refund whatever I can, as long as I'm not losing any money myself.

The problem is that when shipping standard postal service, lots of countries do not allow insurance values as high as $2000 when shipping packages as large as a bass case.

For example, the UK allows up to $2,499 in insurance, but only on packages that have a maximum length of 46 inches, maximum width of 35 inches and a maximum height of 46 inches.... there is also a total maximum where the length + girth (W+H x 2) combined must be less than 108 inches.

Unfortunately, I've never seen a bass box shorter than 50 inches long, so with a 46 inch maximum, the most I can insure that package for is $650.

See for yourself: http://pe.usps.com/text/Imm/fh_014.htm#ep3576772

In that case, if the package was lost or destroyed, I would refund the buyer $650... not the full $2000.

It's not my decision... it's up to the country where you live. Some countries allow for for very high insurance claims with large packages... but with most, there are usually size limits.

If someone buys the bass, they agree to their country's shipping terms, I ship it to them and it gets lost, why should I be out all the money?

This is why you see a lot of people not agreeing to ship outside the USA at all... there's a lot of risk involved on both sides, and people get uneasy with taking the risk.

Private shipping companies like FedEx and UPS allow for large items with incredibly high insurance coverage, but it's usually like $400-$600 to ship to Europe using these companies, so most people tend to avoid it due to cost.

Here's the USPS shipping rules to France... and they appear to mirror the UK.

http://pe.usps.com/text/Imm/fh_005.htm

Just checked and a rough shipping quote for a fully insured package to France via UPS is about $385.

Just to be clear, I didn't want to be rude or harsh, I was just giving my European buyer point of view :)

When I buy something from the US, I usually use one of these 2 options:
- USPS with $650 maximum insurance
- UPS or FedEX with full insurance

In the first case, I always agree with the seller that in any case of loss or damage, he would refund me $650 max. But I like to get the Paypal protection because if the seller appears to not ship the item for example, I can open a Paypal claim and there's an investigation.
If the buyer opens a Paypal claim, and the seller can prove the item has been shipped and provide some tracking info, I think he won't lose any money.

Again, I understand your position, and as a seller you can put all the rules you want, I've got no problem with that.

No worries!

It's important to have these discussions so everyone is on the same page.

Agreed!

The seller ONLY has "seller protection" if he is from the USA, and he ships to a "confirmed" PayPal address.

See here: https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/s ... ection-faq

Unfortunately, most European addresses are NOT confirmed, therefore, I would have no protection if you file a claim for any reason if your address wasn't confirmed.

The only way to tell if I have protection is to look you up by username or send you an invoice... then it will tell me if I am protected for that particular transaction.

maybe I'm flogging a dead horse here, but ... if you took the neck off of a bass and thus shipped it in a smaller box - but shipped the case separately-, would you not be able to use the postal service and insure both packages for the full amount?

Or is that generally considered too much of a pain in the butt for both the buyer and seller?

And it's been my one and only ever since, retiring my SR5.

These are amazing instruments and this is a great price. Someone hurry before Addison changes his mind..

I forgot to mention that in my particular case, I've got a Paypal confirmed address.

Everything you say is true Addison.

It's been done, for sure... especially when the bass only is being shipped... but I think that by the time you combine shipping costs for both containers, you could probably ship in one box fully insured through UPS and not have to disassemble anything.
