I got this from eBay a few weeks ago. It's a year 2000 TRB-IIL Yamaha, made in Japan, transparent blue finish (very rare, I think). Some specs for those not familiar with this model: -Ash body -3-piece maple neck with walnut runners. Super comfortable profile: not too thick, not too thin. -Gold hardware -Heavy duty brass bridge -Rosewood fretboard -3-band EQ -Humbucking pickups. This pickups have some interesting configuration: the second coil is just there to kill the hum, so there is only one coil that captures the sound - so it sounds like a big single coil but without the hum. -1.75" nut width / .75" string spacing at the bridge, although it feels a bit tighter because the nut is narrow. -35" scale For being a 13-year old instrument, it's in immaculate condition. This bass has been played very little and looks like it was stored most of its life. There is the obvious nick at the headstock and a few superficial nicks and scratches here and there, but in general, it looks and feels like-new. I've seen some of these bass develop pitting in the bridge, but this one has obviously been seldom played all its life. The setup is ridiculous: action as low as you could possibly want - super straight neck, superb fretjob that feels like a $3,000 boutique. I got this as an impulse because I played a TRB for many years, and they are hard to find. I remember how well they sounded and played, but they always been a bit too heavy for my shoulder. . . Not sure of the exact weight, but it feels at least 9.5 lb or a bit heavier, but it does have great balance. I got $550 in it, so just trying to get that back, or even a bit less since I'm willing to eat the shipping and Paypal fees. So, $550 shipped. Buyers outside the US please contact me for a shipping quote. Oh, and it comes with an original lefty Yamaha case, which is super plush and luxurious. It has a few scuffs and it shows some wear, but 100% functional. Some pics below. 3-year old baby girl not included in the price, but negotiable. . . |

Nice! I've always wanted a 4 string TRB. Hopefully Yamaha does the TRB4 and Attitude basses in lefty some day. |

Wow, I've never seen those cases before! I've had two TRB5II's (one in amber and one in this blue colour) and both were absolutely perfect. I loved the feel of the neck, tone is awesome and can be tailored to your personal taste in lots of ways. The electronics on these are great. There's even a little trimpot inside the control cavity that lets you dial in exactly how much humbucking you want from each pickup. You can dial the second coil of each pickup out almost completely so it'll just serve as a phantom coil, or you can dial it all the way in for full-on humbucking tone. The differences in tone may seem subtle and refined, but it really adds a lot to the versatility of these basses. I loved both my TRB's, and I may well find myself buying one again some day. |

Agreed on all counts, Whoever bought it for $550 got a gift. I have an amber one and I generally suck at playing 5 strings, but this makes it so easy, I have never played A 5 string that liked better! The overall build quality is beyond exceptional, the neck, the action, the spacing, the low B, the tone capabilities are all as you say- absolutely perfect. Excellent studio bass, has the versatility to do anything you need.
