For sale is a beautiful trans teal Stringray fretless. I purchased it from our own AzWhoFan a couple of years ago.

The fretlines are aftermarket, done before I acquired it.

It's got a few scrapes on the back and the poles pieces are bit rusty and pitted.

Comes with gig bag. I'll pack it really well.

$600 plus shipping.

I'm in San Jose, CA.

Thanks.

A Warmoth Jazzmaster IV. It's basically a Fender Jaguar bass.

If I wasn't building my own fretless, I'd be sorely tempted on this one... found this great demo if anyone's interested in what this bass sounds like... the guy in the video plays well, and tweaks the EQ section well for different sounds....

Folks,
this is a great bass at a killer price. I had Labella flat's on it when I sold it to bbl, and it had tons of mwah. Super easy to play. the fret lines never got in my way, even tho I prefer my fretless's unlined.

Great bass great price, bbl is a great guy to do business with (I bought another Stingray from him in 2008) too bad I really don't have the use of a fretless

I've got a few questions - Can you tell me how old this bass is? And why has the pups rusted? Is it because of sweat or has it been damaged caused by water?

Nice video btw - great to hear what a similar bass can sound like..

It looks like the '96 Ray I had, same color, serial number onthe bridge (with a couple of zeros), etc. Probably a '96 or '97.

Stingray basses are one of my favorites for fretless. This is a ridiculously good deal!

@awf
Was it yours originally?

I am not the original owner.

I bought it from a guy who worked in Vegas during the Great Depression, but I never met the fellow. He left it with his sister who lives 1/2 way between Vegas and Phoenix. When I bought it, it had a slight bow to the neck, but that was no big deal to tweak and it played great while I owned it.

Really, the only reason I sold it was because I have a Rob Allen fless that I prefer over the MM. Well, that and the fact that a lot of the music I play doesn't call for a fless, so i really didn't need two fless's.

Personally I like Pino's fretless sound more than any other fretless sound including jaco. Obviously, it comes from his incredible skills but when I play a Fretless Ray it feels so perfect. The pickup position in the sweet spot allows at the same time, definition and punch without being so close to the bridge (compared to a Jazz bridge pickup) which allows the bass to remain supportive.
