I just got this a few months ago, but I feel that it's a bit redundant right now in my collection. Paid close to $1500 with shipping. Looking to sale for $1095 plus 1/2 shipping and Paypal, or trade for any sort of P-Bass . . . (with cash from either end, depending on what it is) let me know what you have. My dream bass would be another '73 P-Bass with an A neck, but I'm interested in getting any other P. I'm also specially fond of post-2008 Ps. A long shot, but I would trade for an Airline Map bass (plus cash from you). No interest in 5- or 6-strings. Lastly, any trade would have to weigh under 9 lbs. Fretless welcomed.

I will ship internationally - contact me to discuss.

Some quick specs on the Carvin:

-Chambered alder body (8.8 lb), no neck dive
-5-piece maple neck - extra stable
-Controls are volume / balance / passive tone + pull bypass / bass and treble
-Extras: blocks, matching headstock, rosewood fingerboard
-Action is set up as low as you can imagine - all my basses play themselves
-Comes with Carvin hard case.
-Elixir strings
-BIG UPGRADE: It comes with Bartolini humcancelling pickups installed (not in the picture), plus the original alnico single-coils (J99A). The Bartolini are more full and smooth in comparison to the J99A, and are noise-free.

Condition is super mint, almost as new. Shows just the slightest swirling on the pickguard, and might have some beer splatter here and there. (Kidding). ;)

Nice - if I didn't just buy the Lull I may have considered this one.

A white pearloid PG would look great on this..

Very nice. I wonder if I'd have to pay an import duty to get it if it was shipped to the UK?

I like the idea of the chambered body.... the SB5000 I bought from darkkent last year weighs in at about 11 pounds. Sounds great, but gets a bit heavy mid-way into the third set....

chambered bodies sound nice and fat unless you slap (but who slaps anymore?), it's a cool bass!

@mcarp555 - yes, most likely you would have to pay import duties, although, if you can live without the case, I can ship it in a smaller box with the neck detached, and declare the bass as "used parts." That way you can save on duties and shipping. But I encourage you to find out for sure if this is the case. I know it worked when I shipped basses to Germany and to Ireland.

@Frenchy-Lefty - this bass slaps as good as any solidbody bass, it doesn't suffer from that effect that you can experience with other chambered bodies, like Sadowsky, which I've had 3 of them. I think the difference is that Sadowksy uses light wood to start with and hollows the body, creating an ultra-light body that feels/sounds a bit different when slapping. Carvin uses normal-weight wood, so when hollowing the mass loss is not as great. Also, the body size of the Carvin is larger than any Sadowsky, so it has more mass. In sum, fear not, this bass feels and sound just like a solidbody, but weighs less.

I gotta agree with lefty007. Last year at NAMM there was a monster slapfest going on with 4 bassists all plunking away on these Carvin basses. sounded awesome!

Slapfest, eh? Sorry to hear that. I've got a 4-string on order. Hopefully they'll sound just as awesome played properly...with a pick. ;)

Can't hardly wait, due in July.

A "slapfest" is actually when someone is slapping a bass player attempting to slap...

Guesstimating the shipping & insurance, you're looking at a ballpark figure of close to £200 for duty & VAT. :x

If I was to get it, I'd certainly like the case as well. May just be beyond my reach at the moment.

Ship the case empty, and claim IT as used parts! ;)

Hah hah! Good thinking! For that matter, send the neck & body separately as well!

It is, although, I've gotten attached to it a bit, but I have a Sadowsky coming soon. After I give the Sadowsky a spin, I could end up putting my Lakland for sale instead of the Carvin. I will know by Sunday (I'm traveling now). Let me know if you want it and I'll let you know.

Thanks

Cool, thanks. I'm on vacation myself, so I'll ping you once i'm back, or ping me once you know. I might be interested in the Lakland depending on details and price.
