Feeling adventurous? I am selling my rare custom lefty Warr Artist 10. (As played by Trey Gunn of King Crimson). Excellent condition, not sure of the year it was made, but I believe around 1996. This is a 10 string Chapman Stick-style tapping instrument but WAY better quality. Who needs a guitarist when you can play bass and guitar simultaneously...in theory. I acquired it a few months ago and hate to give it up but I quickly realized I just don't have time to learn a new instrument. If you happen to do two hand tapping on bass already then you're a step ahead. It's a beautiful unique instrument that needs to be played and needs a good home. Here are specs as I know them: 18 volt active preamp, Dual Bartolini full range stereo pickups split 5/5 each with 3-way pickup selector switch, volume/tone knob; Bolt on 5 piece maple/rosewood striped neck with rosewood board/ample inlays; 24 fret, 5 octave range. Sperzel locking tuners/strap locks; Strung in standard cross tuning with inverted 5ths bass side (E A D G C<>F# B E A D). Can also be tuned in 4ths if desired. Comes with gig bag. Asking price: $2800US + shipping. For more info and some incredible videos: check out: http://www.warrguitars.com.

Truthfully, I was making some progress, but all it takes is watching a King Crimson clip to quickly realize it'll take me a lifetime to master, if at all. Some people pick it up pretty quick though. The guitarist in my band took up the Chapman Stick a few years ago and within a couple of months he was gigging with it AND singing backups. I'd switch to rhythm guitar when he'd play Stick on certain songs. (I'll have to post some videos soon). The guy can play anything though. Makes me sick. Here's a little demo he just did: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAsb6ik7etc |

Ive always found it funny that trey gunn is so good at tapping instruments and he's more or less recognized as a bass player but when it comes to playing a traditonal bass guitar he is absolutley terrible (by his own admittance), but im pretty sure the instrument that made tony levin get the 3 string bass was try gunn's "rubber bass" i recall hearing tony levin talking about it and trey is credited with playing it on the album "happy with what you have happy to be with" but i have no idea what it is supposed to be |

I know Levin played one on some Peter Gabriel tracks. |

Come on, you wimps! Real men play 10 strings, not 4,5, or 6. Nobody's interested in being sufficiently humbled? Price drop to $2700 + free shipping to lower 48US. thumbslam wrote: Is it me or is anybody wondering why a "lefty" has the knobs on the "righty" side ?????????????? I thought the same, but It's visa-versa on their "righty" instruments too. Here's a righty: Attachment: tgss_12string_3.jpg [ 41.77 KiB | Viewed 10799 times ] I think the reasoning is you don't normally hold or play it horizontal to your body you play it vertically like an upright, so having the knobs closer to you makes some sense. |
