Joe is a nice guy and he will meet people to try out his basses bring them to you in New York maybe PA. He is also having a get together at his house near exit 117 GSP in June if you PM him I'm sure he will have you there to try a bass, jam and enjoy the festivities or just enjoy the festivities . I bumped the video in sights and sounds of the last BBQ 2011. You know there will be other lefty basses there (PT's).

DON'T do business with this person.

I purchased this bass from him on eBay.

1. The bridge was mounted crooked. To hide this defect, he had loosened the screws (more on one side) so that the tension of the strings would pull it and make it look like it was mounted straight.

2. There was a gap between the neck and the body of about 1/16" on both sides and a gap between the neck and the body of about 1/8"!

3. He had added a black piece of plastic to the pickguard to hide the gap between the neck and the body. Unbelievable.

4. Even the neck was mounted misaligned.

5. The headstock wasn't completely painted. Paint blemishes throughout the instrument.

6. The logo on the headstock was just a cheap sticker which was not even beneath the glossy finish. Easier to remove than a car sticker!

7. He said the pickups were wound to his custom specifications. They looked and sounded like cheap Made in China pickups you can buy on eBay any day of the week.

8. After I sent him back his "product," he demanded to have the original used carton box he shipped it in, back! It was a couple pieces of used carton packaging for other items, taped together to construct a shipping enclosure for the bass - which of course I had to tear to remove the bass from it. What kind of a person would demand debris like that back? He refused to pay for the cost of shipping his awful thing back to him even though he was aware of the issues that I raised about the bass BEFORE he sold it to me in bad faith.

9. He's got a bunch of friends or "associates" that collaborate with him in his scheme to take advantage of fellow musicians. They lie about the quality of the stuff he sells.

10. I got my money back only after filing a Paypal dispute. Stay away.

He wasn't even sure what wood the body was made of: "... as far as the body, i was told it is alder, bought it as alder but i would not bet my life on it." Re the pickups, this is what he said: "Those are my own J-Style Pups that are a cross between you standard Fender USA pups and SD Pups. They are very nice. I think so anyway." He wouldn't say who actually made them. There are no marks on them and they look and sound like generic eBay Chinese pups (buzzy and low output, lacking lows and decent tone). It looks like this guy haphazardly puts together various bass parts that he acquires cheaply on eBay and elsewhere and tries to pass them off as what he calls his "custom" instruments to unsuspecting buyers. I was the only (unlucky) bidder and this is what he said after I won the bass: "... normally i sell these for $550 and above...;-) but so be it...those are the breaks...". I believe he stopped selling on eBay now.

Wow!

You can actually see the piece of black plastic that's hiding the gap between the neck and the body on some of the close-ups of the orange lefty bass that he uploaded to the GAMMA Fraternity Album on his Facebook page.

I found that ANY negative comments on this bass will earn you much derision on this forum.
I'm giving you a head's up 'cause I simply stated I thought it was an ugly bass and was quickly put in my place for saying anything bad about it or it's maker. Here you are saying all sorts of bad things about it, man, you're gonna catch HELL.

oh ya...well MR LEFTYLOSER, why don't you also tell everyone on how AFTER you inspected it thoroughly instead of just looking at an item you didnt want in the first place noting the obvious flaws you didn't like, then shipped it back to him in pieces. You didn't want it, you should have said "it was not as described", and shipped it back. I hope Joe takes those pictures of what condition it came back to him in and posts those.

You didn't want it, obviously the flaws you listed here did not require taking everything apart on a bass you didn't want in the first place, take the neck off to see if it was a mity-mite or whatever dude, yank the pickups out of it to see if they were Chinese or whatever AND you did NOT pay an exorbitant amount of money for it either. You paid like 250bucks, and are whining like you got ripped off for a bass that costs you 3grand. INSTEAD, you decided on yourself to totally take it apart, THEN haphazardly put it back together and send it back and tell the world all the flaws were HIS fault? You know anything that is "built" is custom dumbass even if it is using shelved parts.

your not-so-kind words are really a joke and nobody cares. Nobody is going to have to worry about Joe's leftys thanks to YOUR explanations here.

and your case was reversed by ebay so your retarded negative feedback is no longer going to tarnish his ebay account, so rant-on dude. it is pointless.



And another member here has it now, and is perfectly happy with it.

I have to say, first if joe has anything to say about this let him say it.
second, I don't know joe and don't particular care for fender or fender lookin' basses, so I'm not a friend nor am I a past or future client of his.
permafrosts review was a hell of a lot more relevant then amimbari's rant.
if joe has anything to say for himself let him say it, trying to discredit permafrost is just pathetic.
what ever you have to say about the way he dealt with the product is pointless as it's after the fact.
if the bridge was mounted crooked, with the nuts loosened to hide it doesn't matter if he took a shit in the box he shipped it back in. if that's true then joe sold him a useless piece of crap and it doesn't matter if he paid "only 250$ for it" now does it?
not anything built is "custom". custom is either a silly branding title like deluxe (a.i les paul custom- it's a production model, made in a custom shop yes, but still a production model) or it is an instrument customized for some ones specification.
taking the instrument apart is also a perfectly legitimate approach considering the fact that it was sold BASED ON A CLAIM REGARDING IT'S INSIDE. there's no foul in that. especially if he was proven right to open it up.

I'll say this again, there are some harsh accusations here. I'm still waiting for JOE'S rebuttle.
if joe doesn't care to answer on his own, and has people here doing the talking for him.
one can only assume that the claim are accurate and that this is spot on:
