Such a gorgeous bass. And Chris is a good dude, so someone scoop this thing up.

Beautiful Chris. I thought this bass had gold hardware before...? And you swapped the tuners for Hipshot Ultralites right?

Yes, as I stated in the description, the original gold bridge and tuners are included. The bridges are identical... the chrome bridge was purchased directly from Pedulla. The original tuners are Gotoh and the replacement are Hipshot Ultralights.

Personally, I hate gold hardware... black and gold is OK, but when it's completely gold it seems very gaudy to me. I also think that chrome compliments the blue a lot more... the gold on top of the blue seemed to clash in my eyes.

Another bonus is that the Hipshots save you about a 1/4 lb of weight off the headstock, which is pretty sweet no matter how you look at it.

But, like I said, the gold stuff comes with it if you want to switch it back... that would be entirely up to you.

This is what the bass looks like with the gold bridge on it...

Image

It sticks out too much in my eyes... your eyes can't help but be drawn to it.

The chrome just seems to fit better with the blue and matches the frets, etc.

But maybe that's just me.

I agree. That is one sexy bass, but I tend to like gold hardware only on lighter-colored basses.

Ok, $2100 shipped, lower 48... last price drop before it goes to eBay.

C'mon dudes... you're probably not going to see another one of these come up used in a very long time.

8-)

Ebay just reminded me of CITES and that I now have to think about that when selling internationally.

Since the fingerboard on this bass is ebony and that wood is classified as an "Appendix III" species, I CANNOT sell this bass internationally unless I have export permits that prove where the fingerboard wood was obtained.

At least, that's how I understand everything... if someone understand it better than I do, please let me know.

:x

I think maybe contact Mike Pedulla I'm sure since he sells basses all over the world he must have something on letterhead for that. It all original wood so he should be able to vouch for it. Most all of the wood I am buying for building comes from Groff's or Hearne I stopped buying anything off eBay and I have letters from them stating all the wood they procure and sell and re saw is documented and inspected by customs and CITES approved and if I ever get to a place where I sell a bass I will have copies of these with the instruments so I am sure Mike must have something on file. You make a good point though..

Thanks for the suggestions... unfortunately, Mike doesn't deal with people anymore. It's his wife, Christine... I've met her in person and she's very cool, but she's very protective over the business and isn't very helpful when assisting people in the used market, especially when it comes to buying and selling. They're busy enough and are trying to sell new basses, so they can't be bothered with it. That's the impression I got, anyway... and I get it. I'm not offended by it. It is what it is.

From what I understand, you need more than just something on letterhead saying that the wood is legal. With Appendix III woods, you have to fill out export documentation and provide proof of origin... complicated shit like that.

As much as I would like to extend the sale overseas, going through all the hassle of even trying to figure it all out just isn't worth it just to sell a single bass.

Yes, I'd love to sell it because i need the money... but if I have to hold onto it for a while and try to generate cash some other way, it won't kill me. It's an amazing bass and I wouldn't mind keeping it.

Not sure what you mean, but it's headed to WA, so no CITES stress here!
