I'm really thinning the herd. I went a lil nuts last year and bought about 8 basses.
Here's the best of them - really, probably the finest (and funnest) one. But I'm only keeping one Jazz type bass and it's a Lakie JoBo.
Zon Sonus 4 Standard Lefty
Dated August 10, 2003
Made in Redwood City, CA, USA
2-piece swamp ash with clear gloss coat (Joe charges $350 extra for gloss)
Carbon composite neck
phenowood fretboard
Bartolini Js with Bartolini NTBT preamp (with adjustable gain)
V, sweep, and 2-band EQ on board
plastic knobs
gotoh tuners)
SUPER light - this bass is coming in at 7.5 lbs. on my bathroom scale. I'm going to get a really accurate read on this.
And it really barks - I think the combo of Barts with the ash (and neck) really works for modern J tones. The phenowood board is snappy but warm. It's a surprisingly warm organic sound from a carbon neck - nothing like a Modulus I used to play.
And it's BY FAR the lightest bass I've ever owned. GREAT gigging bass.
It was an impulse buy - I saw Billy Gould for the first time and THEN this bass showed up on Ebay.
I paid $2200 Ebay about 9 months ago from John Bocan (Funky42?) and looking to get that back. It's in excellent (or even mint, you be the judge) condition. See pics - showroom condition except for the dust.
I'll inspect it with a fine eye for any tiny blems - the clear gloss coat is really strong.
I prefer US and Canada but I will consider international shipping. Please PM me to talk.
Thanks.
Geoff
