Hey guys I know there are several of you on here that are Ric owners, so I wanted to recommend this treble bezel that's available. Just installed mine and it has a recessed thumbrest (the 'Cove' model it's called). It's a hard ABS plastic piece with a sort of rubberized feel to the surface. Really comfortable and conforms to the pickup surround in a way that makes it as inconspicuous as can be. I just really dig it because I tend to anchor my thumb on the bridge pickup of any bass that has 2 pickups. This is something I couldn't do comfortably over the years with Rics and has been my only gripe about these basses, being primarily a fingerstyle player. There are 3 versions. A plain one with no recess or thumbrest (Addison has one of these and may wanna chime in), the 'Cove' (which I have), and another that has a small protruding thumbrest. Here's info on the different models: http://www.tubeampology.com/2501.html I got mine at Pick Of The Ricks, $36 USD So here it is. And no, I'm not giving my '78 Jazz the ol' thumbs-down : |

And if it's any help, here's a shot of the entire bass for context. |

Not a Rick owner, but that's definitely a cool idea! |

I have the other model, the "Deluxe", it's quite comfortable as well. Got it straight from the Tube Ampology guys here: http://www.tubeampology.com/2501.html |

I had one of the first ones on my 4003, without the thumbrest. I really liked it, I hated the sharp edges of the bridge pickup surround and that huge gap around the pickup. Very nice piece of hardware, and a great upgrade to any Rickenbacker that has the pickup cover removed. |

Cool product. I agree, the gaping hole has always bothered me as well. This is a nice clean looking solution. |

I made something similar using a L shaped piece of aluminum.
