I thought I was going to have something useful to post this week ... but I burned thru the clear while buffing out a body last night, so it's going to be a little while longer before I can get the body ready again  R |

Very nice Rod, I look forward to reading your experiences with the Reranch stuff. I picked up 2 cans of Daphne blue a few months ago from a Reranch forum member at a good price. I also recently picked up a MIM jazz for $95! I will have to replace the neck (though the bass sounds very good). I was hoping to do a Warmoth B&B rosewood neck, but their prices have skyrocketed so I'll have to skip the B&B. I'm thinking of doing either maple/pau ferro or maple/zircote. Then do a matching headstock. But I've got to get some workspace setup so it will probably be later this summer before I can start. Cheers! |

it was warm in Seattle on Saturday, so I was able to fix one of the bodies I had hoped to discuss here. because you need to let Nitro de-gas itself after the last coat is applied, there's now four weeks to go before I can get started leveling the finishing for buffing out all the best, R |

My Moses Jazz, while nice looking, is way too heavy, and too damn bright sounding with the old Sadowski pre in it. So I bought a used Jazz body off TB for $20, because the seller said it was really light. It was no beauty, however, so I've left it alone, but today I got bored and started sanding it down by hand. Before:  After (well, so far):  I was a bit surprised it had any grain to it (BTW, what is it, Alder? I never can figure these things out), as I'm sure it's a mid-70's MIJ body; presumably a Greco, Ibanez or Tokai, as those are the only ones I think were made in a lefty back then. The finish on the back seems thicker, and the insides of the horns are always a bitch to sand, so I'm getting some stripper tomorrow to make things easier. I know Rodent's not ready yet to do any finishing in his new place yet, but maybe one day I can get this one done. I'm thinking walnut would be a nice color. |

that's a killer body for $20! and it does look like Alder in that image bummer that I'm stuck in an apartment without even a spare closet to poof can in  have you considered sending the stripped and sanded body to Wilkins in CA? a solid color finish should run you about $250 according to his on-line pricing charthttp://www.wilkinsguitars.com/pricelist.html all the best, R |
