Simple question really ... would you be willing to give up using metal control knobs if it would save you a full 1/3 pound in weight vs. plastic knobs?
I'm considering just this move, but I'm finding it difficult to stomach the thought of using plastic for anything except a pickguard and control cover plate. I'm also looking into considering a lighter metal like aluminum, but I'm not finding a pleasing style that is also available in both black and chrome plating
any one care to share their thoughts?

here's a few additional weight saving thoughts:
- Hipshot Ultralights vs. Schaller BML's = 1/2 pound savings
- alum Type A bridge vs. brass Typa A bridge = approx 1/4 pound
total weight savings by incorporating Ultralights, alum bridge, and plastic knobs is over a full pound!
using graphite stiffening bars in the neck instead of steel reduces weight by another 3/4 pound. using an ultralight body core will reduce weight by at least another half pound, if not more
all the best,
