OK, OK. Yes! I will admit it. About twice a year I either purposely look at TB or "find" myself there via a link or somesuch thru some other site/thread. So can someone who visits more frequently than me share the short answer on what the h%ll happened to the look of that place. Holy bassman! 1999 called an apparently TB answered the phone. There's no love lost between me and the rulers at TB but even I know they're not that whacked. Please tell me that's just a software situation they're being forced to live with b/c no way they would choose to force that suckage on the masses??? |

Was curious about your statement, so looked at Talkbass through 1) Chrome (which I use all the time), and it looks way too simple, with no lines to separate posts, and no boxes around quotes... 2) Firefox was a bit better, with a pale blue line to separate posts... 3) Safari (which I never use), was the best-looking of the three, with each post in its own box, with each subsequent post alternating from a white box, to a pale grey box, and quotes were in their own separate box... (keep in mind I'm using an Apple MacBook Pro). Safari is easily the best-looking of the three... not being a programmer/website builder, I have no explanation for the wide variety of looks between each browser. As far as Windows Explorer goes, I have no clue what it would look like, as I gave up on that browser long ago... |

Yes they "upgraded" their software. I was falling out of like with TB a while ago and this new software makes me even less interested in the site. I still stop by and even post from time to time, but not often. The extremely high BS factor has burned me out. |

ok ok so call me silly, but I actually kinda like the new look and feel. It took me a day or two to figure out how to navigate my way around the site, but after the initial pain of the learning curve I kinda prefer it. I'm using IE10, haven't tried it with other browsers. The new look hasn't reduced the BS factor by one iota tho! |

But you're right, the BS still the same. . . |

I like the new TalkBass forum software. Don't care for the 'dark' version, but the goths and metal heads love it. An interesting mix of experts abide there. From designers of thermonuclear reactors ( ) to those that don't know the difference between an ohm and a gnome, but have owned or played every bass; amp, cab, and combo ever manufactured by humankind and/or aliens. Fender bashing remains the most popular sport. And of course the daily crying in my beer due to S.A.D.S. {Sudden Ampeg Death Syndrome}. |
