Genne Simmons ahead of Jeff Berlin - that's a good one.

This does not bother me, I gave up years ago, same with Rock and Roll Hall Fame, some of the greats are not in there. I don't like when they rank musicians, they never get it right. I always find it more funny on how bad they can be, where is Doug Johns one of the newer bass players but still great? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46rxLo_y_jE

No mention of Sting either. :?: That's the most surprising one to me. Supposedly this list was voted on by readers.

That was the most surprising omission to me considering the slant of the poll.

Despite the lack of mention of so many true greats of our instrument, I was actually pleasently surprised by many that were mentioned. Most "greatest bassplayer" polls are completely pathetic.

Soo... they're trying to say that Duff McKagan, 3 guys I've never heard of and the dude from The Cure are greater bassists than Nathan East. :?

This article should be retitled "60 Bass Players Some People Have Heard Of (In No Particular Order)", and even that's a stretch.

how in the fuck the duran duran and the cure guys rank higher then les claypool and bill ward?
even on a readers poll vote, which is obviously slanted towards mainstream\heavy music this is fucked.
why is duff McKagan even on that list?
and in what world is paul mcCartney a better bass player then that dream theater dude?
this list is whack.
but on another lists that website has, for top 50 metal albums "appetite for destruction" rated higher then "paranoid".
so it's safe to say, in my book at least, that the readers of said website have shitty tastes in music.

And on: Jack Casady Phil Lesh David Hood David Hungate Dusty Hill Willie Dixon. Im sure Ive missed a bunch. If this poll was voted by readers of that rag they need to read some real books or better yet go back and study their music history by listening to some roots records. At least Mingus was included.
