Saw this random photo. It's a lefty, but the controls are set up as righty. Don't know the brand...

I've seen the occasional Dusty Hill picture where he's playing lefties set up as righties for years... most of the time he just does a reverse headstock, as what's seen on his recent Fender Custom Shop tribute model, but I've seen several pics of him playing actual lefty basses or even lefty basses built as a righty, like the picture you posted... here's another:

He also has that same exact bass, but in a true righty version.

It's hard ot find any info, but I think they're made by John Bolin... and I think he even makes all the "vintage" basses you see Dusty play as well, and his original first production year tele bass was retired.

They are made by John Bolin, They are righthanded basses in that they are not converted from lefty, Bolin starts with a reverse body and neck and builds a righthanded bass.

I'd speculate that Dusty got inspired by Jimi Hendrix and thought I'd be cool to play a lefty body. And I guess higher-fret access is not a concern when you never go past the 7th fret. . .

Wow, that gold sparkle bass is a beauty! And in this case, it looks very cool being played upside down!
