Just read of his passing... always wanted a Kubicki bass, but as you all know, lefties were very rare, if made at all. He was only 50.... http://www.vintageguitar.com/13587/reno ... ki-passes/

he was born in 1944 which would have made him around 69 years old. Still, these days that's still way too young to pass.

Bought a Tokai strat w/ Kubicki neck in 1983...
Then a year later ordered a left handed Kubicki P-Bass neck...
To this day still my best sounding unamplified bass.

Really sad!

Seeing John Taylor at Live Aid on TV was one of my seminal "I want to do that" moments and I distinctly remember being fascinated by his bass, which was a Kubicki.

You're right of course... he was active in the music industry for more than "50" years... that's where I went wrong. Thanks for the correction...
