for those of you going this year, I noticed this change. This'll mean there will possibly be HUGE crowds in front of the glass doors, unless they have attendants at every glass door.

"Fewer ID Checks
With the show now extending to the outer glass doors, entrances to the halls will be open so there will be ID checks at the perimeter doors. That means once you're inside the convention center you'll be free to move around the halls without other ID checks necessary. The open lobby will play host to an exclusive Member Center, digital media hub, new product showcases and more."

Thanks for the tip. I noticed there are a few badge pickup/check in points as well. I'm wondering if there's one particular point that's typically less crowded than others.

I probably won't be rolling in until Thursday around 2pm, so we'll see.

I would suggest avoiding the Hilton on Thursday, there's always a long line there during event hours. Probably the Marriott is a better bet.

Absolutely. I'll be using this thread to post my pics. I will be trying to upload them nightly, but I make no guarantees that'll happen :-)

I'll be there as well. I'll post coolness if there is something worthy to post.. Like a BADASS Left bass. Curious if Jimmy Copollo has one this year. Preferably a 5 string.

Curse you Apple for not including SD ports! (...as he typed from his MacBook Pro, and updating his iPod...)

They usually have that sort of stuff at airport kiosks, no?

Speaking of technology (and my strong aversion to it), I assume the convention center's got Wi Fi? But is there any option to print out something? I had wanted to print out my return flight e-ticket the night before my flight.

Alleva Coppollo brought a lefty 4 string natural jazz bass type to Bass Player Live, according to the magazine, maybe he'll bring that one?

Mesa didn't have a booth this year...

No Alleva Coppolo or Sadowsky either.

Well my trip's off to a rip roaring start. Didn't get to the convention center till about 4pm, so barely scratched the surface. Presently, my hotel room has no internet or TV! If they don't get it straightened out by this evening, I'm outta there. :x Typing from a Starbucks right now.

I did spot a few lefties, though the pickin's seem to be even slimmer than when I went to NAMM in 2010. Ernie Ball wins the award for biggest selection again, with two 4 string Stingays (both maple neck, black and sunburst), one 5 string, and a silver 4 string Bongo to sample. I own one of the original runs of lefty Bongos, and the neck profile on these newer ones is much beefier. I didn't care for it, and I found it difficult to slap on the G string due to neck and positioning of neck PUP (odd, since I have no problem on mine). They're also reintroducing the Sabre bass, though I don't know if lefties will be available or not yet.

I also spotted a lefty Kala U-Bass and an Ibanez. More to report on.

Looking forward to checking out the Regenerate, Zon, and Hipshot booths later today.

My hotel also has really spotty wifi. I hope I get to finish typing this post. Gotta agree with, PJ, this is the worst year I have seen for lefties. Seems tomemanybooths have scaled back ontheextras. Fender doubled theirretailmerchspaceandeliminated thestage. And no artists are performing. Martin has way less exotic models on display. No ginormous drum displays, tho there area lot ofcustom drum kits ans parts. Gibson however has a nice display, tho no lefties.

Gibson will be offering an acoustic guitar of the month, which willfeaturespecial pricing. Each should also be available in lefty. Dunno about basses or electric 6 bangers as I spoke to the acoustic product manager.
