Gah... if only this was a left hander! Have always had a fascination for these, and I never knew they came in fretless! That's why I've posted this here, because it's not a lefty... but, it's one bass I've always wanted to own, and one of my favorite colors - and it's just plain cool! And check out the D-extender option.... nice! http://www.ebay.com/itm/1993-Kubicki-Ex ... 246wt_1282 |

I'm obsessed with Kubickis as well. They definitely have their own sound/style. Never saw a fretless either, but I imagine it sounds killer. I've contacted Phil numerous times over the years, but he refuses to make lefties. |

I have seen one or two lefties from the early(?) or mid nineties. One was red, the other yellow. But fretless? nope |

Were they basses or guitars, 'cause I have seen a couple of lefty guitars, but never basses. Phil told me himself he would NEVER make a lefty. Too much retooling involved, he's just a small builder, yadda, yadda. Now I'm on a mission to find the only two lefties in existence. Why can't you keep it to yourself, Marc? |

They were basses. I saw them when I first moved to Chicago. they were both in the same store, but don't ask me where, it's been a long time! Sorry to ruin your week PJ |

I too have wanted a Kubicki since the 80's. Philip gave me the hand a number of times as well and I remember the last one being pretty harsh. Oh well. I understand and it is probably a nightmare to retool for. I do remember however talking to an assistant at Kubicki on the phone one time years ago who was super nice and understood my frustration being a lefty and wanting a Kubicki. This is probably impossible now with them however he offered to sell me all of the parts, I just had to find someone to make a body and neck. After being inspired recently by the "flipping" thread on this forum and remembering how I had to do that first starting out, I wonder if it's worth it for us to buy a righty and either a) flip it or b) pull the neck and all the parts and have someone make a body for it ? There is the extension on the e-string but that could be either skipped and a new nut installed or extended where the g would be. |
