I am a player and I play most of my basses. I do record and I do play gigs but that aside I suffer dearly from this G.A.S. written out in a most illicit manner. How about you?

Funny, and unfortunately true! I'm going to share this with a guitar body of mine, who qualifies on almost all levels of this description! :D

Addition to the word "bass", you should also change the "by Walter Becker" to "By Thumbslam"....

Here is another good way to cure GAS: live in a tiny NYC apartment where there is literally only room to keep one or two instruments around. The other option is to spend $$ on storage space and put them there, but it means they will be inconvenient to access to say the least. Problem solved.

I've considered the storage space option from time-to-time because my little studio apartment is rapidly losing floor space, and it looks like a horder lives here! But I don't live close enough to one that has 24-hour access, and I don't want to worry about how well the climate control system works... would hate to grab a guitar or cab from storage and find the neck warped from the heat and humidity here in Hawaii, or find my speakers brittle and mildewed.... just had a little shudder pass over my shoulders thinking about that scenario! ;)

Say NO to storage space! (Or, at the very least, make sure they're heated, though few are humidity controlled). I used to keep my stuff in one. A pipe broke and flooded mine during the winter and then froze over. Luckily no guitars/basses were kept there, but I had to chip ice off my Roland U20 keyboard and dozens of books, records, etc. were destroyed.

Da-yum! Glad it was no worse than that! Just can't give up control and responsibility of my equipment to strangers..... that's why I keep my money and my mattress too!
