I wonder if anyone else cares about this small "convenience"... when clicking on a link, the new website page replaces the LeftyBassist page. Hitting the back-button brings you back to the LeftyBassist page. I prefer to see the link/new page in a new tab, so I can click back-and-forth between the new Tab/page and LeftyBassist Tab, for reference etc. To do this now, I hold down (on my MacBook Pro) the Command button and click the link, which opens it in a new Tab. It would be nice to click on a link and have it automatically open in a new Tab (TalkBass has that feature).

Not a big deal, and don't know how much work to the internal code it would require.... but just wondering if anyone else has thoughts on this "feature"...

I just right-click on the link and select "open in new tab".

I could do that too, but I'm lazy - that's two "moves", and I just want to make one!

It might be a limitation of the messageboard software. I use Firefox and have a add-on literally called 'Open Link in New Tab'. Works perfectly.

phpBB should be capable of allowing the administrator to change this setting. I'm on several phpBB boards and others do have this setting activated.

I completely disagree with this "convenience". It is a hinderance and I cannot stand websites that implement such a feature.

Opening a link in a new tab is easy on any modern browser. Command/CNTRL click and you are done. Easy. Even on my smartphone, opening a link in a new tab without a keyboard is relatively simple.

Consider the behavior of the site if such a "feature" was implemented. How would it be possible to open a link in the same tab? That's right, you CANNOT. Say I am reading my final post on leftybassist.com and I am ready to move on after following a final link. Sorry bud, you must now close two windows. This feature reduces flexibility. Why remove functionality (which this proposed feature does) when a solution already exists?

OK, so I decided that your right-click suggestion was the easiest way to go... or should I say a two-finger press on my MacBook Pro trackpad! That's why I love this forum - even the dumb questions get answered!
