I'm proud to present to you my second book called Slap 101.

This book is aimed to all levels of players, from beginners to professionals just like my previous one: Groove 101. The approach and the material I wrote and created for my books and classes come from my 30 years of experience as a bassist in studio, tv and live performance and 25 years of teaching bass at college and university level. So my material is the result of both worlds: playing at a very high professional level that requires a lot of skills and transmitting that knowledge to my students by creating effective exercises and practice routines that improve their playing and help them to become professional musicians.

So this book has 130 pages, 462 exercises and original grooves and the included DVD data is packed with 2,116 mp3 files with specific drums tracks to practice with and showcase every exercises and grooves with a full listing of all the basses, DI and preamps I used for the recording for tone reference. The way I present the material is really like a lesson with good advices, tools and tips on how to practice the stuff, which is something that lacks a lot in other books. I'm sure that even the advanced players will be challenged with the material in the book and on how to execute it. This book is a great tool also for the beginners that fear this technique with exercises that focus on the full control of your motion and hands coordination that will make you sound good and precise. Also the chapter based on 8th notes grooves will give you instant gratification with original basslines that are easy to play and used.

This book will give you enough material to practice for years and will definitely improve your slap technique, control, vocabulary, time, precision and sonority. The original grooves are covering a lot of styles like rock, r&b, funk, fusion, african, blues etc...

You can have a look at my books and buy them here:
http://www.howtopracticebass.com/page7/

It is possible to buy them also from bassbooks.com.

Some demos will be available soon for Slap 101 on my website and there are some already for Groove 101. Don't be scared about french because the site has an english version on the top right corner and the books are bilingual french/english with standard notation and accurate tabs. There is also a section for theory basics for those who don't have any.

Thanks a lot and hope you'll look into it. You can also subscribe to my mailing list for more infos and I plan to publish some videos on my youtube channel about how to practice some of the material from the books to point out some tips and go deeper in your practice for better results.

Sylvain Bolduc

The stuff I heard and saw on YouTube of you playing live on TV was incredible. Super groovy and your tone is killer too. I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to by anything instructional from you.
