Hey guys,

I just got off the phone with my navy buddy that I posted a video of 2 weeks ago.He is also the same guy that I got into Stanley Clarke (S.C thread) and he was telling me he was looking at pictures he took when me and him went to the R.T.F reunion a couple of years ago and according to him it seems Stanley's upright was plugged up to an swr and his electric was plugged into a fender pro reverb. Anyone know anything about this, or tried it? I still remember his tone from that night and it just killed!

thanks in advance,

Gur

P.s I knew it coudn't have been de meola's amp because he was trading off between bogners, mesas, and a marshalls and his tone was......(insert negative Al di Meola statement here)

Here's some recent pics from the Montreal Jazz Festival back in June, and it looks like he's playing all Ampeg stuff... no Fender Pro Reverb to be seen.

If you click on the first pic at the top, it blows up to a GIGANTIC pic and you can pretty much read the settings on his amps.

Here's the direct link...

My gut tells me that the amp wasn't his and that it belonged to the keyboards or was used as a guitar monitor for the other guys or something... but I guess anything is possible.

I went to the source, Stanley's gear page on his offical site and found the following:

"Stanley's usual live signal path is split between bridge and neck pickups.......He usually uses a Fender Twin guitar amp, for a bit of grit and crunch; this is driven by the bridge-pickup preamp." I guess it wasn't a pro but a twin but mystery solved.

when I saw him 3 years ago, in a jazz setting with some cool young unknown cats, he was running a stereo SWR 4x10 rig with a TC electronincs floorboard.

thats pretty cool, I hear good stuff about tc's effects but I thought he had an effects endorsement with ebs, oh well as long as he likes the tone he is getting I guess it dosen't really matter.I gotta say I love the fact that when ever he releases a solo album or goes on tour as the band leader he always has unknowns playing for him, and its usually really young guys that he himself discovers. I was reading a book at the library today, I forgot what it was called some thing like "Jazz on Jazz" it was basically jazz musicians talking about jazz and Stanley had a feature where he talks about its not like in the old days when you picked guys up at the club where everyone jammed together knowns and unknowns ect ect and because of that, whenever someone sends him or hands him a demo of their playing he feels obligated to listen to it...I don't know I think thats real cool of him.
