anybody else experiencing weird glitches, buzzing and popping sounds when listening to youtube vids the last couple of days? At first I was thinking it was my machine, or something wrong in my setup, but mp3's, Ableton live files, mp3s loaded on hosts like bandmix or soundclick work just fine. |

Just watched a bunch of different things. Maybe it's time to upgrade the memory on your Commodore 64. |

....Next you'll be powering up the VIC_20... I had a Sinclair Spectrum (cool little UK computer with a whopping 48k RAM), but I always wanted a 64. Waiting almost 10 mins to load a game and then watching it crap out with a tape loading error was soo much fun.. |

haha a VIC20 and a Commode-door64? I had a TRS80 with the 10" floppy as my first home computer and for gaming, I had a RadioShack "colorComputer" that also used cassettes for data and cartridges for games. Metal biased tapes worked the best, at least you could get a few passes out of them before they wouldn't load the data. I think my first real computer was some generic thing called an AMSTRAD, which although had 2 floppy drives, came with a 20 MB..not GB, 20MB HD card that cost as much as the computer...man I was in heaven with that, and my 300baud dialup Comp-u-serve connection :) man the good old days of pre- windows.... |

I had a Texas Instrumets TI994A baby!!! My home setup was EXACTLY like this: Check out the size of that floppy drive!! And that little box connected to the right side was the "Speech Synthesizer"... it allowed games to have "life-like" voices. |

this is getting so off topic, who cares at this point.... here in Pittsburgh, there is a "computer museum" that has just about every damn 1960's,70's,and early 80's unit that was available back then. the scary thing is that nothing has changed at all...NOTHING. still using 50 year old binary code for processing, still using "chip" style memory, still using magnetic media for storage, etc.etc... just a shit load faster more efficient and smaller now 40 years later a good site to show some of the relics you never hear about anymore: http://www.blinkenlights.com/pc.shtml ( same with cars ) a 1971 car had nothing less than a 2011 car does, just new = smaller, more efficient and safer to drive. |

On a totally un-related subject to the above, I resolved my audio glitch issue by rolling back a video driver that one of my diagnostic programs snuck onto my machine. |
