Mick Karn has lost his battle with cancer. So long Mick, Thanks for all the great music. |

Japan was my favorite band in elementary school, I've been a fan of Karn for a long time. |

Very very sad. THE two biggest fretless bass influences on me in during formative years were Jaco and Mick Karn, and the reason I had to own a Wal bass someday. He was hugely talented with a singular unique voice, not only a bassist but multi-instrumentalist, painter, and sculptor. It's a shame his body of work is largely unappreciated or known, but I could easily see the public escalating him to posthumous iconic status in the coming years. He was that special. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOM7N924 ... re=related |

Japan: like the Velvet Underground not many people bought their music when they were around, but everyone who did formed a band! |

Big loss MK was pretty much the single reason I got interested in bass. Through years of studying music theory in college, i was continually mystified by his playing, and I still am. Any reason to stop playing music is fine, really, except when you want to keep playing and death cuts it off. |
