Very rare. Jack Bruce used to play one for a while, and John Paul Jones has also been known to play one sometimes. A wellknown Dutch player of these is Henk Bruysten of Hank the Knife and the Jets. Check out their tune 'Guitar King' for an impression of what these can sound like

There was another little band from Liverpool that used to use these too.  Southpaw Guitars had a lefty custom shop one a few years ago. "Yours for only $6000".
