Hurricane season has started for us here in the Pacific that calls Hawaii home... and, the first Hurricane of the season, Douglas, is on a path that just may come right over the Island I live on, Oahu.... I've lived here now for forty-one years (since 1978), and this is the first hurricane since I've lived here that may actually come directly at "my Island". Just in the last ten years, or less, hurricane paths have changed their general paths from going below the "Big Island", to going our past the island of Kauai, to now heading farther North than ever before... the last few times hurricanes have followed this recent trajectory, they've lost strength in colder waters; although they've still caused damage from high winds, and massive flooding in select areas due to all the rainfall...
This is the first time I feel alarmed in the forty-one years I've lived here on Oahu... but, I live in a fairly sheltered side of the Island (Kailua), and hope that by the time Douglas passes over Oahu, it will no longer be a hurricane, but a Tropical Storm that just causes some wind damage, and flooding... wish me will, and that all of my forty-six bases survive hellfire and damnation!
Not bad... In the Southern hemisphere, a hurricane is known as aTyphoon... I'm thinking Coronaphoon... Cov-nado...
