How many basses do you own? Are lefties bass hoarders?

I picked it up on Ebay about 7 or eight years ago with an original case and hang tag. The outside of the case shows some wear but the inside is near mint as is the bass. It had round wounds on it but looked barely played. No wear on the playing surface at all. I don't think it was out of the case much.
I put some Fender flats on it. It has nice low action,great tone and plays great. I don't play it out much at all lately. No need in the projects that I'm in right now. I do enjoy taking it out every so often at home.

I have five (four electrics and an upright).

Three years ago, I had twelve.

I'm continually challenging myself to simplify, to get own less stuff, and appreciate what I have.

I find myself GAS'ing most when I'm not playing much. So I try to play more and enjoy what I have.

The rising Ebay seller fees have also helped my re-think my decision to buy another instrument.

The two missing ones are my acoustics that are allowed to stay in the living-room.

Man, you guys have problems. . . :lol:

I only allow myself to have no more than 5 at a time, that's why I'm always selling. I regret selling many of the basses I've had, but I just can't see myself having more than 5. . . I feel guilty if I do. I try not to have more than $8000 total in basses, so if I want something new and have to sell something that I have.

That said, right now I have 5 but 2 more to come:

Rogue Beatle bass copy
Yamaha RBX350 defretted
Sadowsky 5-24
P-Bass '73
Jazz bass '82

And I have my Sadowsky P/J for sale and have two on the way: an MTD KZ 5, and I'm getting ready to order a fretless 5-string, either a Roscoe or a Lull.

I'm pretty much the same way. Currently I have 11, a cheapo 6, a 5, the rest are 4's. I mostly play all of em. Love playing each one but do have a couple of favs. My Ibanez Artcore, a custom jazz, and my latest Schecter, a Studio 4.

I'm either lucky, or unlucky, depending on your view. Since I'm limited to a 32" or less scale and I prefer 5-strings, that only leaves a couple options without having one custom built. Those are a little too expensive for me to order on a whim, so I've not yet reached hoarder status.

My problem is I really like oddball basses, and it's very tempting to buy them even though I'd never really get to play them.

17 electric & 1 upright + a couple of guitars. I sold 5 this year: so, it was more. I remember the
first time I was called a collector.........it actually bothered me on account of that was never my
intention. But, I have to admit that since then I've even been called a hoarder. Oh well.

Lefties, from what I've read are no more hoarders than the rest of the population - but you make
something, anything, hard enough to get & those that really like that item will tend to over compensate

No, the only thing about lefties that tends to become a challenge (for us) is that once we see in our
mind's eye what a project looks like finished: we tend to move on to another project :roll:

I work
when I can to prove that does not apply to me............no, don't over just yet. I have too many projects strewn about. LOL
