I'm visiting Montreal for a few days. Any good music stores in Montreal for a lefty to check out? Or any other general cool stuff to check out? Mandatory food places/bars/museums?

Calling Slybass ... calling Slybass ...

Sly lives in Mtl. Me, I used to live there 25 years ago and my family is all up there.

I'll let Sly comment on music stores.

The list of restaurants is endless. But you must eat smoked meat sandwhiches for lunch every day! Dependng what part of town you are in there is Schwartz's; Chenoy's; Brown Derby [are they still in business?]; another one across the street from Schwartz's whose name I forget.

Close your eyes and pin your nose and find a good source of Poutine.

You absolutely must visit Old Montreal and the surrounding area/attractions. That should take you 1/2 if you want to see and do everything there. Notre Dame cathedral is there and even if you are not in the least religious the architecture is mind blowing.

There is the underground mall on Ste Catherine Street. If shopping doesn't turn you on, the club Super-Sexe will ;)

The drinking age in Quebec is still 18 BTW. Which did nothing to prevent me and a lot of other kids to hang in bars by the time we were 15.

What's the feel like about being an American? Should I tell everyone I'm Canadian from an English-speaking part in order to survive? Are there a lot of issues with not being able to speak French? Also, the hotel we're staying at is in Old Montreal, so that's lucky.

Nice.

So, check at Boutique Tone and Italmelodie for lefties and if you have time, I have the best lefty collection in town for sale :D

As for restaurants here are some of my fav to complete the suggestions:

L'Express, french bistro with an awesome wine list
Le Piemontais, Italian with class
Miyako and Mikado 2 great sushi places
Café Saigon for vietnamese soup and dishes

pretty much all good restos everywhere,
have fun and drop me a message if you want to try some of my basses,

Sly
