I am in Miami for a couple of weeks. Today I stopped by both the Hallandale Guitar Center and the Doral Sam Ash.... not even one lefty bass to see.
Are there any stores in the Miami area worth visiting, with somewhat interesting inventory suitable for us lefties, or is this a lost cause?

Not many basses there, but it would be a worthwhile trip to visit Jerry's Lefty Guitars if you're in his neighborhood

If you are willing to make a little bit of a trip north to Broward county (20 min, to 45 min depending where you are in Miami) there is Modern Music in Oakland Park, its something of a historical land mark. Some of the older musicians I know say "Back in the day New York had Manny's, We had Modern Music". You go in there and you're bound to hear stories about Jaco, Scott Henderson, and basically any musician that grew up in the tri-county area. I haven't been there since I moved to northern Florida three years ago but when I used to go there they would always have a few lefty basses and they were always intresting, not just the typical MIM jazz and low end Ibanez that you usually find at most shops. Highly recommended, and while you are there its right by Jaco Pastorius park which always has some great free concerts going on.
