http://www.lakland.com/55-69-tetsuya.htm its listed on the lakland site, but it says its made with esp but it says nothing about it on esp's website and it seems to have nothing esp about......my question is it looks like a lakland, built like a lakland, says lakland on the headstock, so what the heck does esp have to do with it?

My guess is that as Tetsuya is a famous ESP endorsee & his basses are pink, this is just a kind of licensing agreement between Lakland & ESP, unless these are made in Japan through the ESP production facilities. There are actually Laklands & Musicmans I've seen that are stamped "Made in Japan" so I guess they're made at the ESP factory to their specs. If I found out more or actual info from a bass shop, will post details. Cheers

ESP is the distributor for Lakland in Japan. They also build a line of Lakland basses between the US models and the formerly Korean-made and now Indonesian-made Skyline series, called the Shoreline series. The Shoreline series are only available in Japan. There's also a Japan-only version of the Skyline series, the Skyline Japan Series.

This Tetsuya model you posted is actually USA-made, but there's a Shoreline and Skyline version too.

Oddly enough, the guy has a signature ESP too. Which looks eerily similar to a Lakland

There are also Made in Japan G&L's, & the Japan Musicmans(men?) & Laklands I haven't seen in lefty but the G&L's I have, on Taniguchi's site. The ESP/Lakland Tetsuya model retails at around $6500US!!!

At the bottom of the description of all Shoreline series basses it says "Left Hand Model [21,000yen](Include TAX)" with a big line through that sentence :?

From what I understand, lefty Skylines aren't available anywhere.

hi guys, ive been following this model ever since it was introduced, the lakland bass it self is a all american made bass, the electronis are made by esp made out to exact specs of japanese bass player, hence the lakland/esp collaberation.

Someone (someone here?) once said Lakland is willing to produce lefty Skylines, as long as you order at least 20 exactly identical basses :P

I'll tell you what... if you can get 19 other lefties to agree on anything, I'll order number 20 even if I don't like it.
